WeChat is a broadly used messaging app that helps various ideas like social media and mobile payment and has over millions of active monthly users, frequently and the majority audience from China. WeChat also is known as the "App for everything" in China. Despite this, if you stay in other countries besides China, you may have noticed that WeChat is not as successful as other messaging apps, meaning fewer users and friends on WeChat.

Open WeChat on your phone.
Log in to WeChat app.
Click on Me and then select Settings.
Navigate to Account Security at the top.
Tap WeChat Security Center.
Choose the Account Cancellation option on the page.
Tap on the Request Cancellation botton and then tap Next.
Click on Agree and confirm cancellation option.
Your WeChat account has closed or deleted.

How do I delete my WeChat account?

Try steps below to delete your account: After logging in to WeChat, you can request account deletion in Me > Settings > Account Security > WeChat Security Center > Account Cancellation.

Notes:

If the system prompts "Unable to Cancel", please troubleshoot with the possible reasons shown and try again.
The data of your account will be permanently deleted after cancellation which is irreversible, and your Wechat ID can no longer be used again.
Your account will be automatically logged out after the cancellation request is successfully submitted. To cancel your account deletion, log into your Wechat account within 60 days after submitting your application. After 60 days, your account and all your information will be permanently deleted, and you won't be able to retrieve your information. Meanwhile, you can still freeze your account after requesting for a deletion. The freezing operation will not interrupt the account cancellation progress.
Please read the Important Notice carefully before cancellation to reduce the inconvenience it may cause.

What Should You Do Before Delete Your WeChat Account?

You should delete the account from a frequently used device.
You need to login to your account, and then go to setting and then click on “Clear Chat History” and then clear all your char history.
Revoke third-party services - After clearing chat history on your WeChat application, simply unlink the account which is linked to your WeChat account like Facebook.
Close WeChat Pay (if active) and remove link all other apps that have been linked with your WeChat account.
Now send an email to support@wechat.com request them to delete your account by giving them your account details such as email (that you used to create) and username from the same email you have in your WeChat and they will deactivate your account.
